Superb effort in doing your bit for public transport, Smithereens, glad I'm not alone! Hope Baby S is behaving himself!

Welcome to the blog, Susan. Perhaps best not to tell your husband that actually neither B nor I are particularly interested in football, it was just one of those strange fancies that attack you in moments of stress...

The way the Star looks when he rolls off a breast amuses me. Completely blissed out, eyes closed and unable to move. Reminds me powerfully of that bit in Trainspotting where Ewen McGreggor's character overdoses.

First time visiting here, and your labour made me laugh (I have three children, all born without drugs at all!) and cry (no drugs = so much PAIN) and remember how crazy birth time always is. So very glad everything worked out for you and now will go tell my husband the Russia Eurocup story (he's English and lives for football) which he will love that your hospital let you watch it while giving birth!!! Congratulations! And I like "The Star" moniker too.

I wish for the little gauge on breasts too! Apparently, "baby knows when he has had enough" is a myth... Baby Smithereens never has enough... so young and already binge-drinking ;) !

Hi Sonulshka, it took me a while to come back visit your blog. Your Star came earlier than Baby Smithereens!! Congratulations to you both! You have been so courageous, I can't believe that they didn't take proper care of you until you were 9 cm!
Your taxi trip made me laugh, because I went to the hospital by metro! I thought I wouldn't be able to find a taxi at rush hour + didn't want to bother a medical car as it "probably was nothing at all" (lol)...

Mastitis I think the doctor thinks, but caught before it got really nasty, thanks to my unerring ability to develop impressive temeratures at the least sign of illness. Still, 38.5 is a new one for me.

Am much better now, thanks y'all!

Ooh, Sol, you poor woman, *worry worry*.

And, they MADE poor B watch? Blimey. I had better never tell S that or he will lock himself in the spare bedroom for EVER. Just in case.

Also, modesty, hah. Modesty is for young men only. No child, female of reproducing age, or old person ever gets any in the NHS.

Seriously hoping the antibiotics have sorted it, whatever the heck 'it' was, out and you feel fine again.

It's not wind. Very new babies imitate their carers by instinct. Mother Nature is making sure you adore this baby quite madly and don't put him in a cupboard when he cries all night. He will soon stop smiling and shan't for a few months. When he starts again, they will be genuine 'happy to see you smiles' and you'll forgive him the crying all night thing all over again.

My littlest brother and sister did this, as did all my neices and nephews. My mother insists I smiled all the time from moment zero, and my other sister didn't smile at all until she was nearly one. Make of that what you will. (I bet I really did have wind).
